We are seeking an experienced Landscape Construction Supervisor who can lead a crew to successfully complete soft and hard landscaping projects according to design and specifications.
Position: Full-Time Landscape Construction Supervisor
Start Date: Spring
Location: Our head office and yard are located in Cobourg, Ontario. We service the entire Region; from Peterborough to Pickering to Belleville. Cobourg is located on the north shore of Lake Ontario halfway between Toronto and Kingston. Cobourg has been recognized multiple times by MoneySense Magazine as "One of Canada's Best Places to Live" in populations under 25,000.
Compensation: Competitive Starting Wage and Company Benefits
Job Responsibilities:
Must be physically fit and able to work long days outdoors
5 years or more experience supervising a team in construction landscaping
Coach, develop and train staff as required
Ensure health and safety policies are being followed
Must be able to manage crews of 3 to 6 people
Ability to operate equipment for excavation and grading
Clean Class DZ with driver's abstract is required
Experience in snowplowing is an asset
Strong knowledge of the following:
Commercial and residential landscaping construction
Grading using Laser Level
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications
Installation of natural stone (flag, armour, etc.)
Installation of interlock paving stone and precast retaining walls
Identification and planting of trees and shrubs
Post-secondary Horticultural or Landscape Technician Certificate is an asset.
Candidates must have keen attention to detail, excellent time management and communication skills.

We are seeking Full-Time (Seasonal) Landscape Construction Crew Members who work well with others, take pride in their work, and can deliver a high standard of workmanship. This is seasonal work with the possibility of winter snow removal work.
Position Available: Landscape Construction & Grounds Maintenance Crew Member
Job Duties:
Spread top soil, lay sod, plant – flowers, grass, shrubs and trees, and perform other duties to assist with the construction of a landscape and related structures
Cut grass, rake, fertilize and water lawns, weed gardens, prune shrubs and trees, and perform other maintenance duties as directed by supervisor
Construct landscaped environments which may include trees, shrubs, lawns, fences, decks, patios and other landscape structures, as directed by supervisor
Safely operate and maintain power mowers, tractors, chainsaws, sod cutters, pruning saws and other landscape maintenance equipment (skid steers, mini-excavators, tampers)
Perform other manual duties to clean and maintain landscaped environments
Qualifications:
High school diploma is an asset
Practical experience in hardscaping/soft scaping is an asset
Must be able to lift 50lb+ consistently
Physically fit with the ability to perform vigorous and repetitive tasks such as tree, shrub, and perennial planting/care, mulching, weeding, garden bed creation, etc.
Positive problem-solving attitude is important
A valid driver’s license is an asset
WHMIS an asset, but will train
Work Conditions:
Outdoors
Successful candidate should be prepared to work in all weather conditions
Type of work: Sodding, planting, lawn and property maintenance, soft scaping and hardscaping work, as well as some carpentry and demolition
Work Experience: 1-3 years
Work Week: Monday to Friday (40-50 hours per week). April through to December is typical. (may be required to work the occasional Saturday)

Job Duties:
The ability to provide mentorship and training through quality leadership to crew members
Proficient, both, as a climber and as a bucket truck operator
Effectively operate, maintain and repair chainsaws, chippers and other arboriculture related tools
Adhering to industry standards, safely prune and remove trees for Hydro line clearing
Work Experience:
5+ years of experience as a climber and bucket truck operator with proven arboriculture knowledge
2+ years of experience supervising a team of 2 to 3 people
Extensive of experience in the care and safe operation of Tree removal and Pruning equipment; Chainsaws, Polesaw, Hedge Trimmers, Stump Grinders, Wood Chippers. etc.
Education and Certification:
I.S.A. Certified Arborist – Current
Valid DZ & G Driver’s License with Clean Drivers Abstract
Arboriculture Certificate (i.e. Fleming College - Arboriculture Program certificate) preferred
Utility Arborist Certificate of Qualification preferred
Work Area Protection and Book 7, Fall Protection, current Standard First Aid & CPR Certification, and IHSA Line Clearing Safety and Awareness
Skills and Abilities:

Position Available: Horticultural Property Maintenance Crew Member
Job Duties:
Execution of maintenance projects including; cutting grass, trimming edges, cleaning up trimmings, pruning shrubs, fertilizing, weeding, mulching, watering and performing other lawn care duties
Spread top soil, lay sod, plant – flowers, grass, shrubs and trees, and perform other duties to maintain and establish the beautification of properties
Safely operate and maintain riding mowers, weed-eaters and other property maintenance equipment (leaf blowers, hand-held tools, etc.)
Spring and Fall property clean-ups
Perform other manual duties to clean and maintain landscaped environments
Job Requirements:
Horticultural Technician Diploma is an asset
Minimum of 1 year of experience in the landscape maintenance/construction industry
Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
Ability to work in a team environment
Personable to clients and other employees
Ability to walk, stand, crouch for long periods of time and carry out strenuous physical tasks
Must be able to lift 25lbs consistently
Plant knowledge and experience in plant care is an asset
Snow removal experience is an asset
A valid driver’s license is an asset
First Aid certification is an asset
